Terms of Service

Effective date: September 16, 2026

These terms are a legal agreement between you and 1557033 BC. LTD. for your use of ChatMyBank. Please read them. By creating an account or using the service you agree to be bound by them.

1. The service

ChatMyBank (the "Service") lets you connect your own bank and financial accounts through Plaid and then: ask questions about your balances and transactions in natural language; receive alerts about account activity; and access your data programmatically through a personal REST API key and a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) endpoint.

The Service is read-only. ChatMyBank cannot and does not initiate payments, transfers, withdrawals or any other change to your financial accounts. It is an informational tool that reads data you have authorised it to read.

2. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
  • You may only connect financial accounts that you own or are legally authorised to access.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details, API keys and MCP endpoint confidential, and for all activity that happens through them. Tell us immediately at security@chatmybank.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. Bank connections and Plaid

Bank connections are provided by Plaid Inc. When you connect an account you authorise Plaid to retrieve information from your financial institution and share it with ChatMyBank, and you agree to the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Your bank credentials are entered directly with Plaid or your institution and are never provided to us. Your financial institution's own terms continue to apply to your accounts.

We rely on Plaid and your institution to provide accurate and timely data. Balances and transactions may be delayed, pending, or occasionally missing or incorrect; the Service reflects what we receive.

4. Not financial advice

ChatMyBank provides information about your own accounts. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and nothing in the Service should be treated as a recommendation to take or refrain from any action. Answers are generated automatically, in part by AI models, and may be incomplete or wrong. Always verify important figures with your financial institution before relying on them, and consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

5. Alerts

Alerts are a convenience feature and depend on data availability from your institution, on Plaid, and on third-party delivery channels (email, Telegram, Slack). We do not guarantee that any alert will be sent, or sent on time. You should not rely on alerts to avoid overdrafts, missed payments, fraud or any other financial harm.

6. API keys, MCP endpoint and third-party AI tools

  • API keys and MCP endpoints are personal to you and grant read-only access to your data. Do not share them with anyone you do not want to have that access.
  • When you connect the Service to a third-party tool (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own software), you are choosing to send your data to that tool. That tool's own terms and privacy policy govern what it does with the data. We are not responsible for third-party tools.
  • We may apply reasonable rate limits to protect the Service, and may revoke keys that are abused or compromised.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Connect accounts you are not authorised to access, or use the Service to access anyone else's financial information without their consent.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering, fraud or evading sanctions.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' data, Plaid or any financial institution.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, circumvent rate limits, or scrape it beyond the documented API.
  • Reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly permits it.
  • Resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties as a service bureau.

8. Fees

Some features may be offered under a paid plan. If so, the price, billing period and cancellation terms will be shown to you before you are charged. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise at the point of purchase.

9. Your data and our licence to use it

You own your data. You grant us a limited licence to access, store and process it solely to operate and improve the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising. You can disconnect any account or delete your data at any time from Settings.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and content (but excluding your data), is owned by 1557033 BC. LTD. and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these terms.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practicable, if you breach these terms, if required by law, if a financial institution or Plaid requires it, or if continuing would create a security or legal risk. On termination we will revoke all bank connections and delete your data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR THAT DATA WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR CURRENT.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 1557033 BC. LTD. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY FINANCIAL DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON INFORMATION FROM THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD 100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 1557033 BC. LTD. from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service, including connecting accounts you were not authorised to connect.

15. Changes to the Service or these terms

We may modify or discontinue features of the Service. We may also update these terms; if the changes are material we will give you reasonable notice by email or in the application. Continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect means you accept them.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the courts of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, unless applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

17. General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
